Hi there, I am so excited to share my blog with all of you! Here is a post from a couple of months ago that gives you a taste of what it’s like to be a “4-H Mom”! Stay tuned for more blog entries about our adventures getting ready for the fair!

5/3/12

You ever have one of those mornings when you’re in a hurry, but think you have everything covered…Kids dressed & fed-check, dinner planned-check, lunches packed & in backpacks-check, curlers out of hair….um, no check on this one! Oh my goodness, I still had a pink spongy curler (yes it’s old school, but they are a staple in our house) in my hair that, in my haste to get out of the house, still had in my hair. And it was NOT in an inconspicuous place, OH NO, it was right smack dab in the front of my head!! I was in such a hurry this morning to get us out the door to feed and get the kids to school along with all the other craziness going on, I completely missed this curler! It wasn’t until I got to work and my boss pointed out my accessory, that I realized I was still sporting my little time saver! Now I am a huge fan of accessories, but this is not the kind I want to be rollin through town in!

This is so not good for my social life either!! Holy Cats,  I am starting to recount all the people I came in contact with this morning, oh good gravy do I feel dumb. I must admit, this is not the first time I have done something like this and accept that it won’t be the last. But it only happens during this time of year when the kids have their livestock projects. I always end up forgetting something and it is usually something that I would normally never forget or leave the house without, you know cell phone, make-up on or the kids. In the last few years, I have surveyed some of my fellow 4-H mom’s and found out that I am not alone with this strange affliction, there are more out there like me than I thought. Would this qualify as strength in numbers or go under the category of mass outbreak of craziness? So for your pleasure,  I have put together a list of some of the best things I have heard from my conversations and I bet some of these you may identify with or even done yourself…

You know you’re a 4-H Mom when

  1. you walk out of the house with a curler still in your hair
  2. you get all the way to the fair and forget the whites
  3. you drive to the club meeting and realize you forgot to pick up the kids
  4. you’re in a hurry to get down to the show ring and realize you’re still in your slippers
  5. you get down the road, on your way to weigh-in and find out no one’s loaded the sheep in the trailer

Now I could continue this list, but I am sure you get the picture and my even be saying to yourself, “yep, I did that too,” but it really comes down to is that we will do everything we can to help support our children in their passions. So if I show up in a curler or even wearing my slippers on show day (not that I have, but it’s possible), please be kind as the Danger Twins and their livestock projects are on the top of my list on that day!

I would love for you to add to my list above, and remember there is no shame! As they say the first step is admitting!!

Today’s “Mad Shout Out” goes to those mom’s who work their tails off to make sure everything runs smoothly, animals are fed and the kids get what they need.
